Local mountain sheep are shorn in spring and autumn. We do not own sheep ourselves, so we are very grateful to work with many farmers from the Passeier Valley and other valleys in South Tyrol. They regularly supply us with freshly shorn wool. Each sheep produces about 1.5 to 2 kilograms of wool per year.
To keep the natural wool fat, called lanolin, the wool is washed without any chemicals. It is cleaned from dirt and dust and then air-dried.

The different natural wool colors are sorted by hand and blended together. This creates a color palette of 10 natural shades: black, grey-brown, brown, light brown, beige, white, light grey, medium grey, dark grey, and grey-beige. The wool is then loosened, combed into fleece, and spun into yarn with a spinning machine.
The yarn can be twisted into two or three strands and is then ready for knitting. All our machines have a long history. We have been working with the same machines since 1948. They still run perfectly and are specially suited for Tyrolean mountain sheep wool.

Using a hand-operated knitting machine, we knit panels in the traditional “purl” pattern.
This knitting technique helps the jackets and vests keep their shape. They do not stretch out easily and remain strong and beautiful over time.

In our tailoring workshop, the knitted pieces are cut and sewn into jackets, vests, boiled wool jackets, and boiled wool vests. Many models can also be custom-made.
During a personal consultation, customers can choose the color, lining fabric, and buttons to create their own individual piece.
